Saúl N. Ramirez, Jr., President of Global Reconnect/TerraCom Wireless, brings a great deal of management, housing, and community development experience to GRL/TerraCom. He joined GRL/Terracom in 2016 after 15 years of service as the CEO of the National Association of Housing and Redevelopment Officials (NAHRO).
From 1996 to 2001, Mr. Ramirez was Deputy Secretary for the Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD); he also served as HUD’s Assistant Secretary of Community Planning and Development. Since his time with HUD, Mr. Ramirez has assisted various administrations in addressing and crafting national policy and program activities.
Mr. Ramirez was also the mayor of the City of Laredo from 1990 to 1997, after two four-year terms on the Laredo City Council (1982-1990). As mayor, he used housing and community development programs as tools to encourage the major growth and development of Laredo. In addition to his political career, Mr. Ramirez worked for 20 years as a risk management and insurance industry executive in Texas.
In addition to his service to NCHH's Board of Directors, Mr. Ramirez has also served on the board for Good360, rated by Forbes as one of the nation's most efficient charities. It serves a network of charities that distribute $300 million in critical goods each year in partnership with hundreds of companies, including 125 on the Fortune 500 list.
